My first mixtapes were the classic ones of Funkmaster Flex (Vol. 1 & Vol. 2), in the mid-90's, and then, Tony Touch or DJ Rectangle (all official releases).
Since I don't live in the US, I couldn't access to this great stuff, but in the eruption of the Internet here in Spain (last 90's and early 00's), I started to download many mixtapes from Emule, Soulseek, or forums. And I bought first mixtapes of J-Love, Smooth Denali, first.
Then, I continued buying Ron G., Doo Wop, Tony Touch, and DJ Juice.
And at last, I bought cassettes (not CD's), and I ripped to MP3 in my computer.
Be ready, I'll throw more classic Ron G. tapes, he's my favourite!! .

Seeing these kind of posts reminds me of just how technology truly is ever-present in this day and age, and I am fairly certain that we have passed the point of no return in our relationship with technology.
I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as memory becomes cheaper, the possibility of downloading our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's one of the things I really wish I could see in my lifetime.
